About Us

Our Story
Our North Finchley is a campaign for all those who care deeply about the future of North Finchley town centre and the surrounding area. A small group of us founded the campaign in June 2025.
The campaign now has growing support and includes residents, business owners, and local workers. We have come together because we oppose the North Finchley Masterplan and the proposed development of Great North Leisure Park.
Planning applications for these developments have already been submitted to Barnet council. But they are unacceptable for many reasons, and do not reflect the needs and voices of the community. The applications must be opposed immediately and strongly.
Our Vision
Housing
We support affordable and safe family homes, in particular social and accessible housing, which is much needed in Barnet.
We oppose developments that prioritise luxury and investment properties, when there is a housing crisis.
Community
We support strong public infrastructure including, GPs, hospitals, schools and transport. We also need sufficient entertainment and leisure.
We oppose developments that take away important leisure facilities for families and in particular young people, when there is a rise in petty crime and poor mental health.
Environment
We support good sustainable design and protected nature and wildlife.
We oppose developments that undermine the character and nature of our town, when London is nature depleted and wildlife is under threat.
Democracy
We support community led re-development and want to see proper citizen engagement in planning.
We oppose developments that don’t properly consult or work with the local community from the start, when there is a call for genuine local democracy.
We demand new consultations, because the developer’s poor consultation and misleading information was an insult to the community.
We support the regeneration of North Finchley and the construction of new homes, which are much-needed. But this must be done using good design principles and policies, to create homes that meet people’s needs, are truly affordable and ensuring that social and accessible housing is prioritised. These homes must be pleasant to live in and integrated into the local area.
