Ask your councillors to lobby the Mayor of London

Barnet Council has formally notified the Greater London Authority of its decision to refuse the GNLP application. The Mayor has called in the scheme and will now decide whether to uphold Barnet’s refusal, or take over the application and approve it himself. We expect this process to move quickly.

While the Mayor makes the final decision, local councillors still have an important role because they can lobby the Mayor directly and make it clear that overturning the decision would ride roughshod over local democracy. The priority now is to show councillors just how strongly residents feel and to encourage them to act on our behalf.

We are now asking you to write to your local councillors, urging them to publicly stand by Barnet’s refusal, and press the Mayor to respect that decision.

We have prepared a template letter you can use or adapt. Personalising it with a sentence or two about why GNLP matters to you will make it even more effective. You can download the template here.
